A multifaceted February 2023 to you, my fellow gifted thrifters and thrifty gifters!

Third and last month of Winter, Shvat, and Adar of 5783, Black History Month! Month of Imbolc, Groundhog Day, Tu BiShvat (New Year and Birthday of the Trees), Valentine’s Day, Mardi Gras / Fat/Shrove/Pancake Tuesday, and Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent)!  We Jews also have our own love holiday, Tu B’Av, but that’s not until August this year.

Nu, if you celebrate Valentine’s, did you give or receive any thrifted ones?  I did!!  If you did too, don’t forget to tag Goodwill of Greater Washington and Finding Your Good in your social media posts – we’re on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (and so am I).

Like many, Valentine’s month always makes me think of jewelry.  And if you know me at all, you know I love jewelry.  And since I also love the shore, sea glass jewelry has a special place in my heart and my collection(s) (which I need to do a post about someday).  And since I love glass, I’m a fan of glass jewelry as well – especially art glass.  This month we’re going to look at thirteen listings – seven sea glass and six art glass ones.

First, here are the best sea glass jewels I’ve seen on DC Goodwill’s Shop Goodwill site recently.  Pay special attention to the fact that, sometimes, sea glass jewelry is sneaky.  It doesn’t always call itself “sea,” “beach,” etc.  It may even be hiding in a bulk lot of jewelry, as is the case with my last two finds in this section.

Two necklaces with three pieces each!

This one has charms in many senses – and a silver shell friend.

https://shopgoodwill.com/item/150556505 – Sterling Silver Glass Shell Kiss Square Pendant Chain Necklace Jewelry 34.1g – 8.29.22

A pendant with three pieces in three colors.

https://shopgoodwill.com/item/158643294 – Sterling Silver Glass Byzantine Apple Teardrop Pear Pendant Chain Necklace 41.1g – 1.24.23

A pendant and a necklace – I thrifted a version of the latter in similar colors.

I almost bid on these earrings to go with a pendant I made from a once-clear, now-frosted bottle bottom I found on a local beach.

Here’s a nice wire-wrapped pendant hiding in a small bulk jewelry lot.

Can you spot the awesome five-piece necklace in the middle of this big bulk lot?

Now, let’s look at some art glass jewelry – all also seen on DC Goodwill’s Shop Goodwill in recent months.

I’ve rarely seen an open shape like this, as opposed to a solid one.

I like that these could be common objects, or people.

A special guest star!  Roman glass, made a few thousand years ago, and then accidentally made jewel-like by being buried for most of that time.  Not a Native piece, but probably an Israeli one.

https://shopgoodwill.com/item/151819429 – .925 Silver 30x20mm Native Southwest Swirl 17″ Foxtail Necklace 32g

I like big jewels, and I cannot lie.

https://shopgoodwill.com/item/157028482 – .925 Silver Cultured Pearl Amber Mesh CZ Bright Colored Jewelry Lot 48g

These designs always remind me of the 80s and 90s.

https://shopgoodwill.com/item/159109775 – Sterling Silver Glass Amber Textured Bangle Cuff Bracelet Jewelry 34.4g

Good for Pride, and year ‘round – and it has an origami bird friend.

Okay.  That’s all for this month.  Shine on, dear readers!  And thrift on.  Please meet me back here next month, in March, for more of my online finds.
