Everyone knows Goodwill is my go-to spot for everything. However, it is an especially dope trip when I find luxury items hiding in plain sight.
Goodwill of Greater Washington and other regional locations have E-Commerce stores that offer rare or higher-end items on an auction platform if you are interested. You are also able to purchase items from other Goodwill locations across the country. Proceeds from the websites support Goodwill’s nonprofit community mission services to serve individuals in need.
A few weeks ago, during last-minute Christmas and Kwanzaa shopping, I saw a metallic silver jacket on the rack.
As I pulled it out, I was delighted to find it was a Max Mara jacket.
If you are not familiar with the brand, it is listed as an Italian family business up-market ready-to-wear clothing and was established in 1951.
Their prices range from hundreds to thousands of dollars per piece, so I was super excited to see it waiting for me.
It is a pewter-colored cropped buttonless jacket. I was unable to find the exact jacket online; however, similar items ranged from around $200.00 to upwards of $1,000. My new favorite jacket was a steal for less than $8.00!
I love to mix and match luxury and more formal items with casual items to create looks. My vision is to rock the jacket with track pants or distressed wide-leg jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and sneakers. It can also be worn with a skirt, dress, or pants and heels.
This year, I am challenging myself to find more luxury brand items while thrifting at Goodwill. Can you imagine which items I may find in my pursuit?
