Goodwill is always my go-to for anything.
However, the best time to shop for Christmas items is after the holiday season.
People opted to donate all and any items related to the seasons, particularly Thanksgiving and Christmas because they were ready to move on from them.
Most Goodwill locations I have visited have a holiday or celebration section with everything from wrapping paper to wreaths and lights. There is everything in between, including pumpkins for harvest and red, white, and blue decorations for the Fourth of July. The shelves can be a little bare depending on the time of year; however, the items were also falling off the shelves the week between Christmas and New Year’s.
I visited the Dulles/ Sterling and Ashdale locations, where I found tons of holiday items. I love Christmas ornaments and used to love to see the Hallmark ornaments that were released each year. A gracious person donated a great amount of them that were being sold for $3.99 each.
I also saw wreaths for your front door and lights that can hang from your mantle or outside of your house. My favorite find was a sign that read ” Naughty or Nice, Depends Who’s Asking,” which fits my personality completely.
Shopping for these items while they are plentiful in your Goodwill locations and storing them until next Winter is a proactive action as a smart thrifter. Check out the items offered at your local nonprofit store!
Happy New Year!
