Fashionistas, fashionistos, home decor-lovers, DIY experts, treasure hunters, and everyone in between: Today’s post is especially exciting because I’m happy to announce that the DC Goodwill Fashionista blog is evolving! It’s transforming into a platform that will fully encompass and celebrate the entire Goodwill community.

The new and expanded format will be known as Finding Your Good with a mission to help readers, “Put new life into your Goodwill Finds. Gain inspiration from a community of experts who will provide tips to help you reinvent your personal style that is socially sustainable.”

What’s great about our community of Goodwill lovers is the strong bond we form. We shop together, we laugh together, we style one another among the racks…but most importantly, we are united by the same love of Goodwill and passion for its mission. This transition not only embraces our very apparent solidarity, but it also highlights the diversity that makes our network unique.

It’s really not just about finding good fashions at Goodwill, it’s about finding all things that are good – whether it’s a kitchen utensil or vintage chair.

It’s also about finding the good in ourselves as a Goodwill advocate. Through your purchases at Goodwill stores and your donations, you help to strengthen communities, eliminate barriers to opportunity, keep more than 32 million items out of landfills, and help people with disadvantages or disabilities reach their full potential through education and employment.

So, “What does this mean for this blog and its social media platforms??”
Well, it means that Finding Your Good will offer new content, great tips, and more writers!

Instead of one person being the face of the blog as the DC Goodwill Fashionista has for so many years, a community of bloggers will discuss the topics you love – like DIY projects, home decor, and workplace fashion. And don’t worry, I’ll still be here. We’re just adding more Goodwill fans into the mix! You’ve actually already been introduced to each of the writers; they’ve been the guest bloggers on The DCGF for the past few months.
On the Finding Your Good blog our regular weekly contributors will be:

Carolyn Becker a self-proclaimed thrifty spunky petite fashionista who works in the marketing field by day, and is an artist and musician by night. You can find her bragging about her designer Goodwill thrift finds on her Instagram: @petite_punk. For a quick listen to her music, she can be found on @eff.emme. On top of all things fashion and art, Carolyn is an avid DC vegan food lover, who shows her passion through her Instagram: @dcveganlife. A DC native, Carolyn loves walking around the different neighborhoods of the Washington, DC area and listening to various types of 80’s tunes.

Tim Kime is an artist, life coach, connector. He is President of Kime Leadership Associates offering executive coaching, meeting facilitating and motivational speaking.  He is also Chief Creative Force of Transformation Junkies which upcycles furniture and other household items into functional works of art. He combined his two passions—unleashing the potential in people and transforming items with the launch of the Art of Possibilities Workshops.  These workshops are part upcycling, part dreaming, part goal setting.

Karen Wathen is a young professional and self-proclaimed “thriftanista.” Her passion for fashion and her savvy spending habits make shopping second-hand one of her favorite hobbies. Wearing many (frugal and fashionable!) hats, Karen is a highly caffeinated Special Olympics coach, passionate community volunteer, amateur foodie, farm dweller, newlywed, and cheap wine connoisseur. When she isn’t scavenging the racks at DC Goodwill stores, you can find her barefoot in her kitchen, blasting country music and cooking up locally sourced foods from her Southern Maryland community. Follow her on Instagram (@k_wattt) for a peek into her savvy life!

Ariel is an avid “thrifter” and budget decorator, as well as a teacher and mom!  After being a military spouse for 9 years (and moving 7 times in the first 7 years), her focus is on making a house (or in this case, her small city apartment) into a stylish home on a budget.  She also has a penchant for Chesterfield sofas, Campaign dressers, and bar carts of all types. Follow her on Instagram @districtofdecor!

Now that you’ve met the new Finding Your Good blog fam, it’s time for me to transition my title from The DCGF, to now, Petite Punk, a Goodwill lover who is ready to share how she finds her good at DC Goodwill stores.

Cheers to looking ahead and never turning back! It’s time to start celebrating and recognizing how we all, as Goodwill shoppers and supporters, are finding our good at Goodwill stores.

Stayed tuned for the official launch! We’ll be making the big announcement on social media soon!
