Thrifting has become a treasure hunt to discover interesting items that pique my interest when I find them at Goodwill. However, there are expensive items that I would love to find for a less expensive price. Any item from Anthropologie or Farm Rio falls in that category. Anthropologie is described as “a unique, full-lifestyle shopping destination, with a mostly exclusive assortment of clothing, shoes, accessories, beauty, furniture, home décor, garden, bridal, and more. The brand opened its very first doors in the autumn of 1992 in Wayne, Pennsylvania, and today operates over 200 stores around the world. Though distinct in style and spirit, Anthropologie is part of URBN, a portfolio of global consumer brands.”
I love the ease and creativity of Anthropologie’s items, including their Farm Rio collection. They offer colorful knitwear in various varieties. The pricing of items averages around $200-$250 each. The quality is well worth it; however, as an avid thrifter, I was determined to find a Farm Rio item that was offered secondhand.
We are officially in sweater weather season with cold temperatures in the Washington, DC, area. I love a good chunky turtleneck that has been a classic over the years. While browsing the long-sleeve section, I pulled out a colorful sweater. I loved the wide stripes and faint sparkle in the sweater. As I checked the tag for the size, I almost fainted when I saw the Farm Rio tag. I quickly ran to the fitting room to ensure the sweater fit, and it did!
Later that evening, I was curious to find out how much the same sweater would cost as offered on other sites. Poshmark sellers offered the sweater from $99-$150 for it where I paid $7.49! Truly a Christmas miracle. I will continue to hunt for favorite brands and items at DC Goodwill locations!
