Fashionistas, I was reading this article on Style Caster trying to see what new trends I could incorporate into my wardrobe with some of my more recent Goodwill finds.
Many of these trends stuck out to me as no-brainers; such as ruffles and metallic. But one style in particular had me questioning modern fashion labels: turtle necks under dresses.
Now don’t get me wrong, I love a Goodwill turtleneck. And a warm dress on a crisp fall day? Absolutely! But together? I don’t think so.
Even styles by some of my favorite brands on the runway aren’t convincing me to change my attitude. It all just looks like a little kid’s outfit; pieces randomly put together.
White cotton turtleneck under a long blue dress by Tory Burch
For example, this 2016 Tory Burch white and blue ensemble had me speechless… in a bad way. The cotton white turtleneck and texture of the blue dress reminds me of when I played dress up in my mom’s closet filled with 80’s fashions.
Striped blue and gray turtleneck under a long black dress
And this Thakoon pairing? The dress looks like a Christmas ornament paired with a school girl’s plaid shirt.
I might be too harsh, fashionistas. But these two looks aren’t selling the trend for me. Maybe a black on black, more form fitting ensemble would persuade me to try. But for now I think I’m going to pass on this one.

What are your thoughts on these two looks and overall trend, fashionistas? Help convince me to try this!
