We are swiftly approaching the summer, dear readers! The impending excitement of changing styles is making my fashionista soul all warm and tingling! Let’s take a moment to celebrate the coming sunshine and hot temperatures by taking a look at how we can achieve a wardrobe transformation on a budget. Because after all, we all know where we want our extra change in the summer to go… Vacation! Today’s six under six features all your necessary summer staples for less than $6.00!
Breezy Tunics. There’s nothing better than a breezy light knit for a summer day, right? I spotted the perfect summery piece at Goodwill on Columbia Pike over the weekend. Made by Talbots, this piece would’ve retailed for at least $50.00. Swinging by Goodwill could put an extra $45.00 in your vacation account because this piece will only put you back $5.00.
Bright Workwear. If you’re working hard for the money on those incredibly beautiful days, you’re probably going to need an office pick-me-up to get you through your 9-5. My favorite thing to work through those summer blues is to rope some bold colors into my wardrobe. I spied this amazing Ann Taylor top for only $4.99 at Goodwill and all I could think is how perfect it would be with a pair of crisp cropped trousers and nude heels!
Strappy Sandals. If you caught my post a few weeks back, you know I am working on wearing more comfortable and healthy shoes! Goodwill is a great place to start that motto. I snagged these gold, strappy Guess heels for $7.99 during Columbia Pike’s 25% shoe sale last summer and I love them. They have a soft, short heel that makes stomping around the office chic and comfy!
Classic Shorts. I’ve found tons of great shorts for $3.99 at Goodwill. These Joe’s jean cutoffs are among my latest and greatest gems. They will be perfect with a long sleeve tee to run errands on the weekends and also for a summer country music concert! This pair, in particular, retailed for over $100.00. Talk about summer savings! You all know I love my J Crew Chinos from Goodwill, too. Remember this post?
Cozy Cover-Ups. A breathable bathing suit cover-up is an undeniable summer necessity. Fashionista tip: check the dresses and blouses when looking for a cover-up. I found a perfect white linen Banana Republic cover for $4.99 at the South Glebe Road store over the winter but couldn’t get to the tub in the basement with my summer clothes in it for a picture! It looks incredibly similar to the one below that retailed for over $50.00. I’d recommend a similar fabric to the one I scored – linen, light cotton, or wide knit.
Summery Hats. What is summer without a fun beach hat? You can usually find hats at Goodwill for around $2.99 to $5.99 depending on the style. I’m in the market for one like the $2.99 style I spotted at Goodwill below but in a white and black stripe. Remeber my post about Amal Clooney? She’s made me decide I have to have a floppy brim!
