I hope you survived this rain soaked weekend, dear readers, without getting washed away.  My weekend was a busy one and if you’re following me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, you know I started it off with the VIP Party for the Goodwill Trunk Show at Pepco Edison Place Gallery!  It was such a fun time and I’m already looking forward to the next one!  The pop-up shop was open Friday and Saturday and the VIP event was Friday night.  The fabulous VIPs got to shop some of the best finds from area Goodwills while enjoying great food and each other’s company.

I was really impressed with the items for sale.  So many of the clothes were brand new with the tags still on them!  Is there any better feeling than paying Goodwill prices for brand new clothing?  I don’t think so!  The racks were filled with some of my favorite labels, such as Michael Kors, Lily Pulitzer, The Limited, and J. Crew in a ton of different sizes.

Just like in the stores, everything was very organized and sorted by color.  Color sorting is one of my favorite things because I know what colors I look best in and it makes it so easy for me to zoom right into my favorite hues.

While we shopped we dinned on some great food from two local food trucks.  Rito Loco brought the most amazing burritos and Linda’s Luncheonette served up turkey sloppy joes and a mac and cheese that only my momma’s can revival.  Y’all need to go check both of them out, your tastebuds will thank me.

I loved talking to other fashionistas as I shopped because there was a real feeling of community in the room.  Everyone was in a great mood and helping each other find that just perfect item.  The fitting rooms were like a mini fashion show with people chiming in on if they liked an outfit or how to tweak it to make it fit just right.  My favorite moment was when Carolyn emerged from the fitting room wearing a dress and Lerkia took one look and said “It’s cute, but that’s not my Carolyn!”  Real friends tell it straight, am I right?

Of course, in addition to a great clothing selection, there were tons of shoes and accessories.  Y’all know I don’t feel dressed unless I’ve got an accessory, or two, or five.  My favorites were these druzy black earrings that would just go with everything and the green zipper belt.  I just thought the zipper was such a fun addition to an otherwise ordinary belt and I loved the bright green color.

I’m so glad I got to attend this year’s Summer Trunk Show and it was so great to see so many of you shopping and supporting Goodwill’s mission!

Make sure you’re following us on Facebook so you know when the next one is coming up and I look forward to see you there!
