Recap: Sterling/Dulles Goodwill Grand Opening!

April 13th was a great day in the books! I was invited to participate in the grand opening of the new Sterling retail store. The store was jam-packed with great finds, from shoes to home decor to purses. Upon arriving at the store at 8:00 a.m., there was already a line of people eagerly waiting to shop at the new store, which did not open until 10:00 a.m. Talk about dedication!

A few social media influencers, including myself, were able to go inside first and show items that struck our interest. One of my favorite items was a cropped denim jacket bejeweled with stars. It gave Cowboy Carter for Beyonce-inspired events. I also stumbled upon a collection of mason jars that can be used for numerous projects.

Mason jars can range from $3.00 and up, depending on the size and color. A few of the uses are for fresh juice, salad dressings, and pickling items. As we enter the Spring and Summer seasons, sunglasses are a great accessory to set your look off while protecting your eyes. There was an overwhelming amount of fashion sunglasses for sale. There were also different sunglass cases to protect your favorite pairs.

Grand Opening Event – Dulles Retail Store and Donation Center

Finally it was time to open the store officially. Local elected officials, Catherine Meloy (the CEO of the Greater Washington Goodwill), and others conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included the first shopper to cut the ribbon. The floodgates and doors opened to the public. They picked a cart or basket to begin filling them with goods.

The DJ was rocking as we shopped together. It felt like a large community of thrifters who supported each other with their finds. The checkout line wrapped around the entire store. Even though it took time to get through the line, I met and interacted with others as we found other items to purchase as we made our way to the front of the store.
