A frosty and festive February 2024, my fellow gifted thrifters and thrifty gifters!  Third and last month of Winter, Sh’vat, and Adar of 5784, Black History and Jewish Disability Month.  Month of Imbolc and Saint Brigid’s Day, Groundhog Day, Year of the Dragon, Valentine’s Day, Ash Wednesday, and Presidents Day.

Yes, a Year of the Dragon started on February 10th.  I was born in the 1976 Year of the Dragon, and I identify with, love, and collect them.  A few times a year, I have a Dragon Day on my social media, where all of my posts are dragon-themed.  I also have Lizard Days, because lizards are wingless dragons.

Nu, thrifting dragon items is especially competitive this year.  But the huge and rich history of dragon fandom also means there’s a great quantity, quality, and diversity of items on the thrifting market.  I’ve been very pleasantly surprised by the many fabulous dragons I’ve seen and thrifted, offline and on – including at Goodwill of Greater Washington, and ShopGoodwill.com.

Here is a little dragon horde I met during a recent visit to the Goodwill here in Gaithersburg.  Alas, they didn’t fit me.  But I hope they found a good home.

This is very cool – someone donated their collection of Chinese dragon coins from several provinces to DC Goodwill.  Who was it?  Who won them?  Is this like the US making quarters about all of our states, and our national parks?  I need to Google.

Here’s one of the auctions, so you can have more dragon details – Chinese 39mm HE-PEH Province Dragon Dollar Coin 19.7g.

Dragon style.  A sterling pendant and bracelet (I can’t speak to their character, but they are more than ninety percent silver).  And boots that were made for walking – and possibly flying.

Dr Martens Black Unisex Boots Size 8

Dragon tchotchkes.  The horde has outdoor scenes with dragons in them painted on the inside of their wings!  The Wintry one is good for Febrrruarrry.  The jade dragon looks like they’re sleeping, so try to be quiet when you take a close look.
