Date night on a dime- first date

There’s something about the warm embrace of sunshine following the brutality of winter that makes me want to shave my winter legs, slink into a flirty frock and be taken out on a wonderful date. Regardless if you’re searching for your spring fling or are locked in love, a new outfit can give you that post-winter boost you’re looking for. If you’re on a budget and need to look fresh for a hot date, get to Goodwill to get your tag-poppin’ fix. Check out some of my favorite date-night looks styled from my Goodwill finds!

The First Date

This can be a tricky one depending on where you’re going. But for a statement piece. It will show your personality without being too much. Try a solid top and bold shoe with dark denim; it is casual but can blend depending on where the night takes you. These BDG high-waisted skinny jeans ($5.98 from DC Goodwill!) are my go-to for a dinner date. The orange H&M tunic and light blue Banana Republic blouse were both found at Goodwill too for $4.98 each. I spice up these solid tops with a few flashy statement jewels.

Date night on a dime- the great outdoors

The Great Outdoors

We are so fortunate to have so many awesome outdoor activities to indulge in around the DMV. If you’re taking a trip out to a vineyard, a sundress is always a classic. If it’s chilly, throw a cardigan or denim jacket over top. I love this Loft sundress ($8.98 from Goodwill!); it hits exactly above the knee making it perfect for a sophisticated, wine-and-dine type of look.

If you’re strolling the National Mall, a flirty tank and cropped denim will keep you from looking like a tacky tourist. A flashy flat sandal will give your outfit some depth without overdoing it.

A Night on the Town

When in doubt, come prepared! If you are unsure where your night may take you after a movie, pack up a statement necklace and some jazzy earrings to make a quick bathroom change. I’ve learned to always pack my Fast Flats, because we all know how unattractive we look in uncomfortable, “I can’t walk in these” shoes. This will make bar-hopping or unexpected commutes a breeze.

Destroyed denim with a blazer and heels can keep a balance of chic and causal; I got these Hollister destroyed jeans for $0.75 at a yard sale and have been wearing them for two years. This white, long sleeve Chinese Laundry dress ($8.98 at Goodwill!) is perfect for a spring or summer evening date. There is no need to pack a light jacket because this dress has awesome slinky sleeves. I pair it with an ankle strap heel and a bauble necklace. It is the perfect combo of dressed up yet not overdressed.

So, dear readers…if your love life is feeling a little stale, head to your nearest DC Goodwill, get yourself some new threads and hit the town with your lover. You’ll feel fresh and fly without the guilt of overspending—what could be better?
