Shana tova (good year) 2026, my fellow gifted thrifters and thrifty gifters! Nu, “good” is one of the last words that comes to mind about this year, and it’s only January – second month of Winter, and Tevet and Sh’vat of 5786; month of New Year’s Day, Epiphany / Three Monarchs Day, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Holocaust Remembrance Day. But that can be changed – we can make this one of the best years ever.
I love my local Goodwills, here in the Gaithersburg area, but I also visit family in the Minneapolis (Minnesota) area, and of course, I’ve had to check out the local nonprofit Goodwill there. And today I’m going to give you a glimpse of my second visit to the Goodwill in Apple Valley. I went with my family member, Donell; here we are getting ready to go in. I actually thrifted the celestial-themed tunic I’m wearing (I love celestial stuff) that very day – Donell gave it to me because she was done wearing it.

On this visit, I got two tops, a pair of shorts, two skirts, a zippered pouch, and a trinket tray. Let’s look at some of the best seashore-themed items I spotted. Starting with two other tops and a pair of shoes.

Bags fit for a mermaid – my Mercroft persona was pretty tempted by the first one, especially as I’m a Vera Bradley fan.

You’ve heard of loaves and fishes – now, get ready for ropes and fishes.

Sea urchins – the jar got shelved with the Halloween and Fall pumpkins, which was funny and understandable.

Warm wishes for the rest of your Winter! Meet me back here next month, in February. I haven’t decided what I want to write about yet, but I have at least a few good options to choose from.
