Yep, I said it. I’m not a fan of the fashion on the funny and addictive hit show ‘Friends.’ After skimming through this article, discussing it with friends (haha), and seeing the style making its way back onto the streets, I’ve started to form an opinion on the show’s fashion: I really don’t like it.
While it does have some rare high moments, most of the women’s fashion tends to fall flat in my book. Whenever I think of this show, I imagine low waisted ill-fitting pants, shrunken white tees, ugly striped half crop tops I don’t even know what’s going on, and brownish pink metallic lipstick.
Let’s take a look at some of the show’s high and low moments, and allow me to defend my position.
The Few Good Pieces
I’m digging this dress a lot. The cut in combination with the houndstooth is classy and very French. It fits Rachel quite nicely and gives her a nice shape. I’d wear it today with a chunk colorful necklace and wedges or pumps.

‘Friends’ helped popularize crop tops, and there’s a reason why they’re back. Rachel is totally rocking this collared button-up crop top in a cute and flirty way. It’s casual yet playful and attractive.

The Bad
First, I am not a fan of denim overalls…at all. Whenever I wear them, I look like a child. Also this shirt underneath is pretty atrocious and unflattering. Is this outfit from Gap Kids?

More blasphemy! Denim SHORTS overalls? They look so awkward! These shoes are also pretty gross. They are very chunky and look quite heavy. To top it off, this oversized collared shirt might be comfy, but it certainly is hiding Rachel’s figure completely. It looks like a sack.

It’s an ugly cardigan party! The color, the flowers, the shape…..it’s not jiving. It’s like Free People gone Granny.

Yeah….no. Rachel is definitely channeling Britney Spears on this look. The skirt paired with the socks is not appropriate for anyone of any age. Especially not a woman in her 30’s.

This dress could be cute but the shape of it is having me gag. It’s cut straight down, making her shape look like a rectangle.

Double trouble, here. Both looks are unflattering and dull. The tops are too oversized; the clothes just look too big. Phoebe’s hair……what is going on here? The bangs are like remnants of a poodle’s tail.

Is this tee from Gap Kids, again? It fits very awkwardly and the design on it. What is that? Was this a July 4th episode? Even if it was, I’d wear anything BUT this top. Also, Phoebe’s look is pretty unflattering as well. The floral jumper thing going on here is like a big fabric sack o’ nothing.

And finally, the jumper over the dirt brown long sleeve. I’m all about mixing fall and summer clothes, but this just is not working. The neck on the dress is way to big and long. I bet if Rachel wore this dress by itself, it would be more than revealing and inappropriate.
