Last Saturday, all of us DC Goodwill Fashionistas hit the racks of Goodwill of Greater Washington’s newest Goodwill location, the Bowie, MD store!
The grand opening a few months ago was a smashing success with hundreds of patrons, so I wanted this location to be our next monthly stop! And wow, was it as fun and eventful as the opening.
At this meetup, the store’s doors opened just for us ladies at 8 AM – an hour before everyone else got to shop. AND, everything was 50%, making it an even more exclusive and exciting morning.
Once the fashionistas arrived, everyone was ready to hit the racks. This Bowie store is one of the biggest DC Goodwill location in the area, meaning that my fellow shoppers and I had A LOT of ground to cover.
Many fashionistas found some very unique clothing items such as this sleeveless vintage inspired Decree top. And guess what?! Because of the sale, it was around $3.
One of our shoppers at the event picked up this fabulous hand-painted treasure to hang in her home for $5. Sometimes it can be hard to find one-of-a-kind pieces of art secondhand, but Goodwill was on point this morning! I love the scene in this painting.
And Erica, one of my recent fashionista friends picked up a BRAND NEW pasta maker – in the box! It was under $10, and will have a ton of uses. I’m definitely heading to her house for a home-cooked pasta meal.
And Kei Kei had one of the best finds of them all! A BRAND NEW deep blue and gold embellished Worthington coat for under $10. The tags on this jacket verify that this was originally $200, but Kei Kei picked up this fall staple for close to 90% off! You go, girl!
I was able to take home some gems as well.
I felt like Cinderella because these brown suede Vince Camuto heels were the only shoes in the store that fit me that morning, and I love them to death! For just $5, I’m almost all set in the shoe department for this coming fall.
I’m always on the hunt for a good fitting skirt for work, and this one instantly popped out at me on the racks. This Madonna Material Girl abstract-printed panel skirt will look fabulous with a sheer black blouse.
Finally, you know I’m a sucker for scoring bathing suits at Goodwill, so I knew I had to take home this designer Trina Turk black and gold tie-on bikini top for only a $1. Trina Turk’s line of clothing originally retails in the hundred, and that being said, this top was probably originally at least $40. I can’t wait to mix and match it!
Overall, at the end of the Meetup, I can honestly say that everyone seemed happy and DEFINITELY walked out with multiple treasures in hand. I had an amazing time at our Meetup and it’s always such a pleasure to meet like-minded individuals who love style and shopping with smarts. There’s honestly nothing better than shopping and meeting new people all while contributing to a great cause and providing job opportunities in the community. It is unparalleled.
Come to our next Meetup if you couldn’t make it to this one! I assure you, you won’t be disappointed. The next one is Saturday, July 30th at the Glebe Rd Virginia spot. You can sign-up for our Meetup group here! <3
