Now that my Husband and I are in preparation mode to move into our own home, what I purchase from Goodwill has changed drastically.
My thrift wish list used to consist of Blazers and fur coats. Those items have been replaced with vacuum cleaners, dishes, lamps….etc. My Husband and I made a decision to basically start over; we are getting rid of all of our old furniture and buying new furniture.
Most of us are aware that furnishing a home can be expensive, so to save money, my Thrift shopping focus is now in the furniture and home sections. To be honest, I really don’t need any more clothes or shoes (I want more ;)) therefore, I really don’t browse for those items currently unless it’s shopping for a LattieMooreStyle Client. I am excited to shop my local Goodwill’s to find items that will make the Daniel household a home!
I’m going to let you all in on a little secret….Home Interior/Decor/Interior Styling and Organization is not an expertise of mine. As far as decor, I don’t have a real vision for our home, my Husband prefers a comfy, cozy and simple palette.
My plan is to rely on the knowledge of my good friend Nattie of @_nattiestyle, her YouTube channel Nattie’s Life For Real provides practical, substantial and obtainable Interior Styling suggestions!
One item I was excited to stumble across was a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner for $24.99! Kirbys are awesome Vacuum cleaners (these usually retail for hundreds of dollars!) that can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance. Goodwill provides a Testing Section in their stores so you can test all electronics and appliances before making a purchase; I was able to test the Vacuum and all the settings before making my final decision to bring him home! I plan on taking it to a local repair shop to get it tuned up – basically I’ll have a gently used like new Kirby for a fraction of the cost!
What types of home decor and furnishings do you shop for at all? Who knew that a Vacuum would be my new favorite thing?
