Have you ever found a pair of sneakers while shopping at Goodwill, but they could use a little refreshing? In the past, I would have left them there. However, my Christmas gift was a portable washing machine from Amazon.
I live in an apartment and don’t have a unit in my space and I hate going to the laundromat especially for small loads. The machine wash cycle is only 15 minutes and includes a separate spinner to get clothing almost dry.
Recently, I found a pair of Nike 270s at the Bowie location. I already have a few pairs of them because they are so comfortable. They were priced at $17.99 as similar styles cost over $100.00. I couldn’t help but purchase and bring them home.
- I added a sprinkle of baking soda to deodorize and brighter them and ran the 15-minute cycle.
- The water drained and I ran a water cycle to ensure that all the soapy water was out and sat outside to dry.
- After a day of drying, the sneakers are clean and ready to be worn.
I also bought a pair of Adidas Yeezy Boost V2 from a flea market, which also are like-new thanks to my washing machine.
Consider the items at Goodwill that are not in perfect shape. A little laundry detergent and elbow grease can do wonders for a fraction of the retail price!
