As thrifters, I feel like we all have our favorite locations close to us. We know where the entire layout of the store and even the polite staff members. However, I am challenging you to shop at different retail locations and get out of your routine. It worked out for me, and I am sure it can happen for you.

Last weekend, I ventured to the nonprofit Columbia Pike location in Arlington, VA, because I was in the area. I used to frequent that location years ago when I worked in the area. I would spend my lunch hour shopping on Tuesdays. It is a hidden gem that has been there for years.

I first stumbled upon a Goorin Bros Ladybug Trucker Hat. The company has a popular line of trucker hats that illustrate popular phrases using animals. I have built a collection of Goorin Bros hats over the years. You can usually find them at retail stores like Nordstrom and Downtown Locker Room. They usually range between $30 and $65. However, I was able to score one for $2.99!

My other great find was a small insulated Trader Joe’s bag in a kelly green color. A few months ago, the bags went viral on the internet. They were offered in pink and purple. I grabbed both colors and used them as lunch bags when I went into the office. It got so bad, that Trader Joe’s had to limit the number of bags a customer could purchase in one transaction. However, I have never seen the green color. The bag was new with tags at $3.99!

As the weather warms up, visit an unfamiliar Goodwill location. You never know what you may stumble upon!
