Dear readers, today’s #MyGoodwillFind is a true find.  The one and only Carolyn found this dress on our last Goodwill bus tour at our Rockville location.  I swear Carolyn has designer radar in her petite hands.  I have never seen someone move through the racks so quickly and she always comes away with designer gems.

Wang designs often show skin and have an edgy appeal.

If you’re not familiar with Alexander Wang, he’s a designer known for his urban and slightly athletic style.  His designs are perfect for the stylish city woman who’s not afraid to rock unconventional cuts and styles.  Today’s dress fits his aesthetic perfectly and is an easy way for you to rock some designer threads.  I love the color because I think gray is the perfect neutral.  You can pair it with brown to warm it up or black to rock a neutral vibe, or you can mix and match it with any bright color.  The straps on this dress are wide enough to wear a bra with, but the cut is low so you’ll definitely be showing some cleavage.  You can always layer a sheer or lacy cami underneath if you want more coverage or add scarf on top.  The buttons and pocket add a little interest and keep it from being too plain, which is important when you’re wearing a solid color dress.  The cut is pretty straight and will hit at, or just above the knee, depending on how long your torso is.  I always say knee length is the most flattering because the fabric stops at the middle of your leg, which is a natural breaking point on the leg.

The cut and color of this dress means that you can wear it so many different ways.  The light fabric will keep you cool in the summer, so I’d add on lots of colorful accessories.  Think colorful bangles, bright statement necklaces, big earrings, anything that’s going to add dimension and interest to your look.  By switching from flats to heels, pulling your hair up into a chignon or top knot, and adding some bright lipstick, you can immediately dress this look up and be ready for a night out.  But don’t think this is just a dress for summer.  I wear most of my clothes all year long through the magic of layers.  This fabric on this dress is thin, which lets you layer without adding bulk.  Go for a cardigan in a fun pattern for the weekend or a solid color for the office.  Leggings or a pair of tights will keep you warm and boots are a must.  I think this dress would quickly become a go to item in your closet and since it’s such a quality brand, it will last for years.
