If you know me, you know I love shoes and consider myself a shoe maximalist. Therefore, I have over 100 pairs of shoes in my collection. Most of my sneakers are kept in shoe boxes or individual plastic containers. However, I prefer to keep my sandals and boots in large storage containers. Plastic containers also work for me because I have to keep shoes on my balcony, and they are weatherproof and have stood the test of time.

Goodwill always has a plethora of containers in great condition at a fraction of the retail price. I always look for clear containers so I can see my sandals and avoid digging through for the perfect pair. My previous container’s lid cracked due to heavier items being placed on top of it. I made my way to the Washington, DC, Goodwill location for a replacement. I was able to find a perfect size with a sturdy lid for $5.99.

Moving my sandals to a new container also gives me a chance to purge what I am not wearing. As mentioned, my intention is to wear my items, and if not, they will be donated to my local nonprofit, Goodwill. It’s a win-win situation all the way around!

If you are a maximalist like me, consider buying storage containers from Goodwill to help you stay organized!
