It’s the holiday season, which is about giving to others. We are led to give to others who are others during this time of the year. This also includes donating through Goodwill Donation Centers in the DMV area. There is an array of items that you can donate, including clothing, housewares, electronics, art, and furniture. You can even donate cars to Goodwill! Visit the DC Goodwill website to determine which items are accepted.

I strive to purge my space and closet each week, letting go of items that no longer serve me.

As bags and boxes fill up, I schedule a trip to a donation center to drop items off. As a person with a maximalist style who wants to keep her space minimal, this can be challenging. However, being able to take any amount of items to Goodwill keeps me balanced.

Last weekend, I traveled to the Ashdale location to shop and donate. The store is huge, and there is always a line of people who donate their items.

I waited my turn to gratefully give items that even still had tags to Goodwill in order to be sustainable within the community. The donation attendants also provide a receipt for tax purposes. It’s a win-win situation!

Next time you have items that no longer serve you or your space, consider dropping them off at your nearest DC Goodwill nonprofit location!
