Today’s #MyGoodwillFind is a little black business casual dress by the Taylor brand in a size at 6.
It’s ornamented with 3 gold buttons and a classy black collar. The length hits just above the knee, with the sleeves hitting right above the elbow.
Taylor is sold at stores like Lord & Taylor and would originally sell for about $100. The best part of this black dress? It’s new with tags!

There is no doubt that I would rock this black dress to the office most any day. It can be dressed down with a pair of sandals or made business-fancy with some pointy toed shoes both flat or heeled. If I were wearing it, I’d opt for all black heels or nude tones. While I’m all about adding pops of color to this dress, I’m in a monotone sleek mood today, taking inspiration from some designers I’ve recently been into such as Alexander Wang.

With a pair of classic black heels or flats, you know I’d recommend throwing in a tad bit more of bling to this collared name brand beauty. Because this dress is ornamented with many gold buttons already, I wouldn’t throw too many more sparkly accessories to this outfit, at the risk of not looking too showy. If you wore a big necklace and big earrings, there would be too many focal points in the outfit, making it difficult to focus on one unique component.
Rather, I’d opt for only wearing a pair of dangly mod or stone gold earrings with a small modest stacked bracelet or ring. A classic gold watch or small necklace would tie to the look together effectively too, just don’t wear them all at once. You also don’t want to look like you’re going to the club while at work! Unless you work in that type of environment 🙂
What would you rock with the collared classic black Taylor dress, fashionistas? How would you wear it to the office?
Great find! I love every DCGW, but over the past year, they have all changed the organization from size to color. It’s so frustrating! No none thrifts by color – you get what fits. I consider myself a thrift expert, but now that I can’t even shop by size, I end up giving up and leaving with far fewer finds. This has to be bad for sales. Does anyone know why it changed?
Sorry to hear that, Mattie! I’ve been to some DC Goodwills where they sort by size like the Rockville and Clinton locations. I wish I could provide more color around the change – I think it might just depend on the store. Thanks for shopping with Goodwill!
Mattie, which specific stores organize by color?
