Who knew activewear could be so fashionable, fashionistas? Lately, fitness and activewear has become increasingly more fashionable – taking shape in the form of cute dresses, sleek cuts, and fun patterns.

I remember when athletic wear was on the plain side and people only wore it for practical reasons – like the gym. Now the whole landscape has changed and brands are now including an activewear line.

I’m not complaining about it AT ALL though, because this just gives us fashionistas another avenue to let our style shine.

Today’s #MyGoodwillFind is a sleek and fun active piece, made by one of my favorite quality brands: Athleta.

This brand new with tags XXS contemporary Athleta asymmetrical hemmed dress is a beautiful workout gem that can be worn at the gym or out while running errands…in style! The name of this polyester dress is called “Sunstone” and originally retails for $89 at Athleta. The back of the dress is of a racer-back sleeveless cut, making it a perfect beach must-have as well. It is also on the snug fitting side, but the material is stretchy- making it easy to throw on and off.

If I were to wear this brand new beauty out, it would be best to be worn either after a gym visit, or to the sunny beach.

From the gym to the beach

After a good gym workout, I’d throw this dress on and run daytime errands. To shop in comfort and style, a pair of stylish black, gray and or white Nikes or classic running shoes will provide a touch of freshness.

Up top, I’d rock a light mod sheer windbreaker, in case the weather is breezy. I just scored a mint green windbreaker that is now my new favorite item in my closet – these types of jackets are light and waterproof – making them the perfect versatile outerwear for the spring.

Because I’d be out running errands, I also recommend going minimal  in the accessory department. A sporty waterproof watch and artistic duffel bag should be enough.

Along with the gym, this  dress would also look fabulous while taking a stroll on the beach. This gem is stretchy and flowy, making it a comfort must-have.  I’d go pretty basic with a beach look, because when you’re out by the warm ocean, you don’t want to be wearing 1,000 different items to get all sandy.

In terms of footwear, a good brown and black sandal will add a touch of femininity and simplicity against the asymmetrical hem. Like the gym look, I’d rock a handbag and/or jacket with similar color notes, in order to provide color cohesion throughout the ensemble. A nice vintage tote would be perfect for carrying around a towel, phone and other beachwear.

If it’s breezy at night, a cropped denim jacket will provide warmth without being too laborious. Goodwill actually carries a wide selection of denim jackets for under $9 a pop – most of the denim jackets I have were scored at the DC Goodwill stores. 🙂

How would you wear this sporty but beachy dress, fashionistas? Did I tell you? It’s new with tags!
