As a home cook, I prefer to buy my spices in bulk. It’s more cost-effective and allows me to use as little or as much as needed. I purchase my spices from a family-owned business in Pennsylvania. The spices are put into small plastic bags, which is not ideal for keeping them fresh over time.

Yesterday, I visited the nonprofit DC Goodwill location on New York Ave and scored some cool items. Among those items, I found four glass spice jars with shaker tops. Glass is the best way to store spices because you can see which spice you’re grabbing. It also helps my pantry stay organized.

Each bottle was 99 cents, but the color of the week made it 50 cents! I can’t wait to display my new spices, like Pizza Seasoning, Old Bay, and Flakey Salt, at my fingertips!
