One of the things I look forward to on New Year’s Eve is playing board games with my family and friends. As a child, it was one of the only approved nights my siblings and I were permitted to stay up past midnight. So, to keep our eyes open to ring in the New Year, we’d play board games. Like many, we loved the classic Hasbro board games such as Trouble, Sorry, and of course, Monopoly. So, imagine my excitement when I saw these and many others available for less than $5 at the Ashdale, VA Goodwill!

As you may know, this year Hanukkah started last month, in November, which is very unusual. Yes, we had a version of Thanksgivukkah! So, alas, it is already over. But, my Mycroft’s Menorah Mishigas isn’t! I love menorahs and have a big and growing collection of them – all of which I’ve thrifted. So, every Chrismukkah, I display them on my social media, in a show I call “Mycroft’s Menorah Mishigas”. This is my sixth year!

Cooler temperatures are here in the DC area, which means hats, scarves, and gloves are needed to stay warm. Over the years, I have acquired different types, particularly liking vintage, crochet, and leather accessories. However, finding ways to store and display them has been difficult. Previously I used a basket but I would have to empty it out to find my favorite scarf. However, with a little imagination, I was able to find better storage in a creative way.
